Video Games and Teens

For years, people all over the world have been blaming video games for violent behavior in children. However, a new survey published by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation seems to refute this. The survey shows that not only do most teens and children play video games but also that this is a postive social activity. This seems to refute the old stereotype of gamers as violent and anitsocial. There is a significant amount of social interaction in gaming, as most teams play games with others most of the time, both online and offline. In addition, kids don't only play the violent games; instead, they play a spectrum of different games, from complex RPGs to puzzles. Although the evidence for this was just a survey among teens, it does show that gaming is not a negative activity and helps counteract many of the negative stereotypes against it.
